Draw on This EXTRA:
The Last Bear
We started with a bear drawing and that’s how we end.
Although our classes are now over, I would like to show off this completed bear done by one of my “Draw on This” students. This student was so anxious to complete this drawing challenge that he took the lesson home to finish it. I am extremely proud of his final lovely result and his dedication.

Draw on This—Day Ten:
Faces
Today was our last “Draw on This” class for this season. Inspired by my teen class “Draw on This and That” I decided to stay with the theme of drawing faces today. Today I presented a more simple version of how to draw faces and talked about how to draw a face in profile and how to draw a face when viewed from the front.
One thing that I noticed was, as the hour went by, that many of the human faces that we started to draw were turned into animals. I guess that this age group is a bit more focused on animal fun than boring ol’ people! :-)
One of the most fun things that we did was to have the students come up one at a time and draw all kinds of different noses and lips and face parts to help us all understand how many different ways there are to represent such things with simple lines and shapes. It was truly a day of drawing as “play”.
Below are some of the fun results—
Merry Christmas everyone and keep drawing!!

This and That—Day Ten:
Portraits
Sadly, tonight was our last class! For a great send-off, I decided to end with my favourite type of drawing and something that many of the students were asking about—drawing faces.
Back to good ol’ charcoal and kneaded erasers, we dove into the basic proportions of the face. With some simple instructions about the measurements of the face and a general photo as a reference, we had a great time drawing a generic male face. Check out some of the incarnations—
Tonight was a great night and as always, a ton of fun. I hope that all of my students have enjoyed their time and have felt challenged.
It was rather sad, to see things end… for now… until January that is. I hope to see many of you again. I would love to dive into some new things like colour, values and perspective. There is so much to explore!
Merry Christmas to all!
