Draw on This—Day Seven
Of Vases and Mannequins

After last week’s imagination fun, today we returned to reality. Today I challenged my students with drawing real objects.

Today's fun challenge involved glass vases and a wooden mannequin.

We started with the vase. Together we found the most basic shapes in what we saw—an elipse, triangles in the ribbon wrapped around the vase, circles to create the body of the vase and many more. Today was all about using our eyes and trying to capture what we saw on paper.

Here is some of the beautiful student work—
Next we switched to the mannequin. Again, we looked for basic shapes. I blocked in the shapes with a light coloured marker and then using a darker colour, I drew over our shapes to show the lines that I wanted to keep. Here is my quick sample—
And here is the lovely work by the students. These students have been great at seeing and drawing the basic shapes found in our wooden mannequin. Again, I am blow away by the creativity!—
