The first bear...

For the first five lessons or so, we will be learning shapes, contour drawing, shading, highlighting, texture, and shadows. This will all result in one bear. Below is my first attempt. It's not too bad for instruction but could definitely use more contrast and more definition in the bottom half of the drawing. I have never drawn a detailed drawing with black and white charcoal so this was a fun experiment and was a great warm up for me who has been drawing next to nothing over the past few years.
