This and That—Day Five Value Scales

Tonight was all about VALUES. Tonight we finished the contour lines for our roses and started with colouring. Creating a good contrast of values can be challenging. It is easy to make ones drawing all too dark, too light or using too many mid-tones. After a quick exercise and some notes on creating values, we got down to business.

By using the right amount of pressure and sharp pencils, we all worked hard to lay down the first layers of colour for our roses. Next week we will apply our complementary colours and you will get to see those colours pop! Check out the first few results of the first layer of colour—
