- Using colour pencil
- Monochromatic colour
- Tone/Value
- Drawing from a grid
- Proportion
- Shading
With our line drawings complete, we will be colouring our rose with a monochromatic palette. While we want our final drawing to be coloured with only one hue, we will actually use complementary colours to create the shadows in our drawing! In the end, two colours layered together will create the neutral tones necessary to create the look of one colour. I have never actually done this project myself so I am very excited to try this technique!
We will also get the chance to colour and shade with pencil crayon. Using pencil crayons can be very different from regular pencils as their more wax like consistency prevents them from blending as much as graphite.
As a follow up from our complementary colour bugs from last week, here is some of the amazing finished student work for your viewing pleasure—
